Welcome! St. Raphael Parish Elementary Catholic School is dedicated to consciously nurturing every student's faith through instruction and example in a challenging, safe, disciplined and respectful environment. Academic experiences are based on sound educational principles providing for the individual needs of the child. With the parents and school personnel working as a team, we strive to develop in the children a fundamental respect for all people and their cultural heritage. Together we uphold virtues that are core to a Spirit-filled community which include justice, peace, and reverence.
St Raphael Elementary provides small classroom size, (average teacher student ratio is 1/17) experienced teachers, a high moral standard of student/student interaction, accredited curriculum, an active PTG and more, all for a tuition far below what private area schools charge.
We are located in the East End of Pittsburgh, and have been serving the Morningside, Highland Park and Stanton Heights communities for nearly 100 years. The elementary school, begun by Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, opened in 1915. The Community of St. Joseph has served as teachers and administrators in the school until the retirement of the Principal in 2009.
St. Raphael School, which is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools, offers a challenging curriculum in a Christ-centered environment. We welcome students of any race, creed or ethnic origin. Our graduates leave St. Raphael well prepared for the challenges of high school and beyond.
